The Greatest Gift - Christ and the ChurchIn 1986 I was saved through a Presbyterian group in Chun Li, a northern city of Taiwan. For five years I sought for truth by reading and studying the Bible regularly, but I had difficulty understanding what I read. One month after leaving the Navy in July 1991, my best friend gave me a book entitled The Gospel of God by Watchman Nee. I can still remember the light I received while I was reading it! Everything I read began to make sense. Following this I began to meet with the local church in Taipei, Taiwan in September of 1991, and I must testify that my whole life has been revolutionized ever since then. At first my cousin (who I had recently been led to the Lord) and I were not accustomed to the meetings of the local church. But everyone there was so happy. Their faces seemed to shine. So we continued to attend these meetings and gradually not only got used to them but even to enjoy them very much. As brothers and sisters in Christ they were so genuine and sincere. They had a contagious joy in whatever they said or did. One day I realized that the greatest gift I could give back to my parents was Christ and the sweet church life. My father got saved first. I will never forget his look when he testified of his salvation--it was a smile of satisfaction I had not seen for a long time. My mother received Christ a year later. She was convinced that the people in the local church were really nice--guileless, true, and enthusiastic. I am convinced that this was a factor in her willingness to be baptized. For this I am eternally thankful to the Lord. In 24 years, I have never seen my parents so happy as they are now. They are enjoying meeting with the local church in Taipei. Although I am living in another country, I know that the brothers and sisters in the church will care for them as they would their own parents. I praise the Lord that there is such a place where I can go to enjoy His grace in such a wonderful way. A Faithful Servant-----Witness Lee I was saved in 1986. After five years in a denomination, I contacted the ministry of Watchman Nee through a book called The Gospel of God. That book helped me to make sense of the Bible. As I began to read more of Witness Lee's ministry, my appetite for the Lord and His Word just got stirred up and my love toward Him just went deeper.
